Also known as Norway Pine. Excellent timber tree. Height to 75 feet with a spread of 15 to 20 feet. Needles are medium to dark green and soft; 4 to 6 inches long. Bark is reddish-brown. Ordinary to poor soil. Can withstand dry, windy, rocky conditions. A fine ornamental tree as a specimen due to its dense, spreading growth habit, with a broad pyramidal head.
