Bottlebrush: Red Cluster
Latin Name: callistemon citrinus 'Red Cluster'

The Basics
This unique evergreen has numerous pendulous branches covered with bottle-brush shaped cherry-red blooms starting in late spring and lasting through summer.  Its densely compact, upright growth habit with bright green foliage reaches 12-15 feet tall (8-10 feet wide).  Best performs as a small tree, background plant, hedge, grouping, and makes a great container plant.

The Needs
Amount of Sunlight: Thrives in full sun; Tolerates shade
Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat; Drought tolerant
Soil Conditions: Adaptable to a variety of soils; Prefers well-drained soil
Cold Hardiness Zone: 9-11

The Care
This adaptable evergreen shrub needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system.  After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Prune often to encourage new growth, and shear annually  to maintain desired shape.
